Training and the licence in New Jersey
Where you train: any school on FMCSA's national registry, in New Jersey or elsewhere. Since February 2022 a first Class A or Class B licence, an upgrade from B to A, and a first passenger, school bus or hazmat endorsement all require training from a registered provider.
Class B: 166 of the in-person schools in New Jersey are registered for Class B training (straight trucks, buses, dump trucks). Class B schools by state.
Free and funded training in New Jersey: workforce grants under WIOA are paid through local American Job Centers, veterans can use GI Bill benefits at approved schools, and carriers run company-paid programmes with a work commitment.
