Class B CDL schools
3,561 in-person schools open to the public are registered to teach Class B: theory, range or public-road training for straight trucks, buses, dump trucks and box trucks. Pick a state, or search a city.
What a Class B licence covers
A single vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 pounds or more, towing nothing over 10,000 pounds: straight trucks, large buses, dump trucks, cement mixers, delivery box trucks. With endorsements it covers school buses and passenger buses. It does not cover tractor-trailers; that is Class A.
Class B training
Since February 2022 a first Class B licence needs entry-level driver training from a registered provider: theory with an 80 percent assessment, then range and public-road driving in a Class B vehicle. Courses are usually shorter and cheaper than Class A. A school registered only for Class A cannot record your Class B training, so check the school's page: it lists the exact boxes the school ticked.
Class B schools by state
Counts are schools registered for any part of Class B training (theory, range or road). Each school's page shows which parts, and whether it also teaches the passenger and school bus endorsements that Class B drivers usually need.
